We are stepping out as a leader in the industry with our MAX line of Hybrid Genetics. Our philosophy is simple: why spend a lifetime trying to produce the ideal single breed animal for the West Canadian range, when it can be accomplished quickly and effectively with an advanced crossbreeding program. You must, in our opinion, have predictable and compatible cattle, on both the maternal and paternal sides of the parentage that excel in similar and complimentary traits. We chose Angus as our base breed because it is the most predictable and consistent producer of the mainstream maternal genetics in the cattle industry. We selected Simmental as the complimentary breed for our MAX line. Our first goal was to find solid red and black color, structure
with ample performance and carcass merit that also have the EPDs necessary to make this program successful. We have carefully blended these two breeds together and put heterosis to work for us. The result is Soderglen’s MAX line of F1 hybrid genetics. When you think of hybrids...., think of Soderglen--a hybrid program with a PEDIGREE!

Our MAX Program has been driven by grassroot demands. It is aggressive commercial cattlemen that are fueling the demand for our MAX line of cattle. Some purebred producers have a problem with the use of our MAX line as a viable option to purebred sires. Then why are commercial cattlemen demanding Soderglen’s MAX hybrid genetics. The answer is, if developed by sound breeding practices, these MAX bulls give the commercial man a power-backed performance and maternal sire, loaded with convenience traits for a price they can afford. What frustrates commercial bull buyers is that the type of bull that exhibits excellent performance, moderate birth weight, high milk production and fertility are so few and far between that they have to compete against purebred producers to own him, and the price is out of reach.
